If you’ve been wondering how to make your first sale online or how to start generating free traffic, then just follow along. I’m going to show you guys how to set everything up step by step inside of this article. To get started, guys, here are the six steps you need in place to start generating sales doing affiliate marketing. I see a lot of people online struggling to make sales or even struggling to generate leads, so I decided to put this article together for you guys to show you everything that I’m doing myself—everything that you need in place step by step to start generating sales online and give you guys a few additional tips that I’m actually using myself. I guarantee as long as you guys follow these six steps and stay consistent, you can start generating your first sale from home.

Step 1: Choosing a Profitable Category

All right, guys, to get started, the very first step of affiliate marketing is always choosing a profitable category. For example, finance, technology, fashion, makeup—these are some of the most profitable categories that people are making money from online. You guys want to go with the trend, pick something that’s currently hot so you can start leveraging it to make income. I know one of the biggest mistakes when I got started is I was trying to make money from coffee, oil, random stuff online that I thought would make money, but nobody actually cared about it. First, you guys want to pick a profitable category and topic that people are actually making money from online.

Step 2: Find an Affiliate Product

After that, for step number two, you just simply want to find an affiliate product to generate sales with. Instead of building a brand-new product yourself, going through the trouble of designing, producing, and doing all that extra work, just join an affiliate network like ClickBank.com to get access to thousands of products that you can earn commission from. This is usually the website I like to use myself—ClickBank. They have products on so many different categories online, so whether you’re in pets, health and fitness, makeup, you’ll at least find a product inside of here that you can start generating sales with.

Now, real quick, guys, I know ClickBank isn’t available worldwide. It’s available in so many different countries, but if it’s not available in your country, all you have to do is go to Google and search for affiliate programs around your topic. So I ended up going with pets, right—the dog niche. All I would do is type in affiliate programs, and check it out: you’re going to see things like Chewy pop up. Amazon’s another good one. So just search for something like this to find affiliate programs that are available to you so you can start making sales from them.

So, I’m going to go with ClickBank. All you guys have to do is sign up for a free account, and once you’re inside, you’re going to see a list of all the products you can start promoting. You’ll see the name of the product, how much money you can make per sale. All you have to do is click on promote and copy your special affiliate link at the bottom of the box. This will be the special link tracked to your account. Whenever somebody clicks on this link and buys, they’re going to credit your account with the sale.

Choosing a Product

If you guys want to see the product, just click on the name, and you’ll see the actual website pop up so you can see what you’re going to sell. But you want to find the product that’s related to your category, right? So, I ended up going with pets, the dog market. Instead of ClickBank, I’m going to scroll down to Home & Garden, then after that, click on Animal Care & Pets. And that’s basically it, guys. You’re going to see products around your category, so just pick a product inside of here. I’ll go with this first one: Brain Training for Dogs—basically helping dog owners eliminate bad behavior, helping them be more intelligent, more obedient. So it’s basically a dog training for dog owners. So I’m going to go with this one right here.

Step 3: Using a Lead Magnet

The next thing you guys want to look out for: you don’t want to just send people to an offer expecting them to buy and spend money, right? So instead of just sending people to an offer, we’re going to use a lead magnet—give them a freebie just to get them in the door and get them to check out our products. So we’re not just asking people to buy stuff or getting people to take out their wallets, right? We’re actually going to give them value and even give them a few free products to help them get in the door.

Next, go back to ClickBank, click on their affiliate resource page, and check this out. Inside of here, guys, you’re going to see a free giveaway that you can use as a lead magnet to help people get in the door. So it’s basically a free product, something that’s going to help them train their dog, get everything started. And once they actually come around, they can check out our offer that’s going to help us make sales online. So this product is going to pay us around $40 per sale, so with only two sales, that’s about 100 bucks. So just go back to the resource page, click on the giveaway, and check it out, guys. You’re going to see that it’s a free ebook—basically a free book that’s going to teach their dog how to play a game, help the training get started. So just download the ebook, and once you see it pop up, next you’re going to go to step number three.

Building a Landing Page

For this step, you’re actually going to build a landing page for your lead magnet. Most of the time, guys, you can’t just promote your affiliate link. A lot of these links are banned, and if you post them directly on Facebook or on Google, your account’s going to get flagged. So instead of getting flagged or getting banned, just copy the link to your product, and you’re going to build a free website for it using Bonsai. So this is a free website builder that’s going to let you build a one-page website. But check this out: instead of featuring your product on the website, you’re actually going to feature the lead magnet to get people in the door, give them a free product, and after that, actually feature the product that’s going to make you sales.

You want to copy your link, then go to Bonsai and create a free account. Once you’re inside your account, click on the link in the bio tab, and you’re going to see your one-page website pop up. So check it out, guys. I was working on another project inside of here. All I’m going to do is erase this and add in my brand-new lead magnet.

Designing Your Website

All right, guys, once you’re done, your website’s going to look like this. First, you’re going to have a title at the very top going over what they’re getting—an e-guide, right? The airplane game. Then after that, you want to have a quick subtitle going over what’s about and what people are going to learn inside of here. Now, you can actually use their website—check it out. All I did is copy their paragraph right here because it’s explaining what people are getting inside the book. So go ahead and use the resources you find on ClickBank to build your website. Then just add a quick image of the book itself so people can see what they’re going to get. And in the very back of your website, you want to add a background, right? So you can do that inside the design tab at the very top. I added a background image of a dog, and they’re going to have all these free stock images you can use. After that, at the very bottom, is where you’re actually going to add in your affiliate link and the download PDF guide.

You want to add two links: one of them is going to go to the actual product itself so you can start making money, and the other one is going to be the free giveaway so people can download the e-guide directly from your page and they don’t have to go through so much trouble, right? So copy your link. If you paste your link on a brand-new page, you guys can see if everything actually works. If you click on the airplane game, you’re going to see that the ebook starts to download. If you click on get started, you’re going to see the actual product itself and the actual affiliate offer. So that’s basically all you have to do to start building your website and actually start promoting your offer.

Driving Traffic

Next, you want to go to step number five, which is start driving traffic to your website. This is the part where most people struggle, right? You can always use Facebook ads, Google ads, but to get started for free, you want to use TikTok. All you want to do is create a TikTok account around your niche, so I would create a dog training TikTok, right? And all I would do is start posting videos, whether it’s dog training tips, tricks, even maybe behind the scenes of people training their dog. Start posting these type of videos on your TikTok. Make sure you include your website link on your profile so whenever people check out your profile, they see that you actually have a free giveaway to help them out and they’re going to start downloading your free giveaway and checking out your product.
